Dr. James Moore’s paper “HIV Testing in Community Pharmacies and Retail Clinics – A Cost Analysis of a Novel HIV Testing Strategy,” was recently accepted for publication by the Journal of the American Pharmacists Association.

The paper, co-authored by employees from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), analyzes a CDC pilot project that provides confidential testing services in community pharmacies and retail clinics at 22 sites across the United States. They performed a cost analysis to determine the cost per test and to assess the feasibility and sustainability of HIV rapid testing for participating pharmacies.

“It’s important to provide HIV testing services in rural and urban settings in the United States,” Dr. Moore said. “I’m excited to be a part of this innovative work that will help expand testing in pharmacies and retail clinics.”
