IMPAQ International recently released a roster of technical experts selected to assist the company in developing and presenting recommendations on a quality performance strategy for the Comprehensive End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) Care Initiative, a Medicare payment model being piloted by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Earlier this summer, CMS awarded IMPAQ a 5-year contract to provide a range of analytic and program support activities for the Comprehensive ESRD Care Initiative, which aims to improve outcomes for Medicare beneficiaries with ESRD and reduce total expenditures by creating financial incentives for dialysis facilities, nephrologists, and other Medicare providers and suppliers to collaboratively and comprehensively address the extensive needs of this complex population.

As part of the contract, IMPAQ established a Measure Evaluation Technical Expert Panel (TEP) whose members would assist in developing clinical and patient experience quality measurement recommendations for IMPAQ to present to CMS.

IMPAQ focused on identifying experts who would collectively offer relevant professional and patient experience - including clinicians, consumer advocates, researchers, and health care managers with significant quality measurement expertise in chronic kidney disease management and dialysis care, home dialysis, kidney transplantation, chronic comorbid disease management, and patient quality of life.

The input provided by the TEP members reflects their own individual opinions rather than those of external stakeholders or organizations of which they are members, or IMPAQ International.

Two TEP meetings were held on November 12 and November 15, 2013.  IMPAQ plans on holding an additional three TEP meetings in the upcoming weeks, on December 17, December 20, and one additional meeting in January 2014.

The TEP meetings will consist of the following experts. The list of members below is subject to change at any time:
