Literature Review

The objectives of this study for the U.S Department of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) were to:

  1. Synthesize multiple studies into one report, critique, and evaluation;
  2. Identify recent changes in policy, regulations, and statutes that may warrant the update or renewal of any previous studies and pilots;
  3. Analyze knowledge gaps and identify strategies based on the analysis, synthesis, and evaluations performed; and
  4. Identify and explain practices that may reduce errors in the school meal programs.

IMPAQ provided a compilation of previous research on error rates in school meals, an analysis of needs for future research, and an explanation of effective practices for reducing error in the school meal programs. Our team included subject matter experts in school meals program administration and review.
