Mixed Methods Research

In addition to assisting Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) with implementing the CEC Model, IMPAQ designed, administered, and analyzed a patient-reported quality of life survey for Medicare beneficiaries receiving dialysis treatment through the Comprehensive End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) Care (CEC) Model. The CEC Model is the nation’s first condition-specific accountable care organization

Our survey work involved a variety of activities, from early methodology planning through the submission of final results. This included administering a mixed mail and telephone survey to Medicare beneficiaries receiving dialysis treatment through the CEC Model. CMS will use data from the survey to measure and monitor the performance of dialysis facilities and partnering providers participating in the model, such as the ESRD Seamless Care Organizations.

Our team included survey researchers, statisticians, analysts, and quality of care experts with decades of experience in mixed-mode survey design and sampling, as well as psychometric and quality measurement.
