Danielle Carnahan

Senior TA Consultant

Danielle Carnahan, a senior technical assistance consultant at AIR, has more than 20 years of experience in education, the past 12 years of which have been spent developing expertise in literacy and curriculum initiatives. During this time she has worked with numerous states, districts and schools to help align and reform both instruction and curriculum to improve student learning. She specializes in working with urban areas with schools of at risk students from low income and diverse populations. Carnahan works with educational entities to pinpoint areas of difficulties to create strategic plans that enhance strengths while addressing difficulties. She is knowledgeable in research and has demonstrated capacity to design and implement instructional reform initiatives at the state and district level.

Carnahan was the literacy team lead for Learning Point Associates and has been a project manager for numerous literacy and curriculum initiatives. She has overseen and participated in multiple curriculum alignments and benchmarking initiatives. She developed the document review matrix and co-developed the process used for audit projects and has also been responsible for many of the curriculum audit methodologies used to inform co-interpretations. Carnahan co-developed classroom observation rubrics and training for two Institute of Education Sciences (IES) RCT studies. She has also worked on an assessment of teacher knowledge of early literacy skills. Through the years, Carnahan has authored and coauthored many reports, as well as published articles and manuals on professional development and research.
