IMPAQ is combining item response theory and computer adaptive testing to develop software for the Social Security Administration (SSA). The SSA will use this software to determine the functional ability of an individual requesting assistance due to disability. In addition to improving the accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of the SSA disability determination process, the software will reduce the time required by the disabled individual.

IMPAQ has years of experience with item response theory, computer adaptive testing, and Python coding. Item response theory removes any dependence upon the individual or administered items, and computer adaptive testing ensures the minimal number of items is administered, while a high level of precision is maintained.
