Bridina Lemmer

Technical Assistance Consultant

Bridina Lemmer is a TA Consultant at AIR with more than 15 years of experience in science and STEM education, project-based learning, and assessment. Her primary responsibilities include partnering with clients at the school, district, and state levels to provide support in aligning curriculum, instruction, and assessment to standards specializing in the science, computer science, and transdisciplinary learning; working with states to review and revise current state standards in alignment with their state legislative review process; creating resources, tools, and professional development materials with a focus on access and equitable STEM education for all students; establishing and facilitating virtual communities of practice (VCoPs); supporting mathematics and English language arts with three-dimensional science and computer science education; and assisting districts with the development of ongoing monitoring and feedback systems.

Dr. Lemmer also voluntarily serves as the executive director for the Illinois Science Teachers Association. In this role, she works with ISTA members to plan, design, develop, and deliver high quality professional development that embodies the vision of the K-12 Framework for Science Education, the K-12 Computer Science Framework, and the Next Generation Science Standards. Topics include foundational understandings of the Framework and Standards; Instructional Shifts; Assessment Literacy and 3-D Assessment for NGSS; Phenomena-based learning; and Administrator Academies with a focus on high quality instruction aligned to the Danielson Framework and key shifts that should be visible in the NGSS classroom.

Previously, Dr. Lemmer was a principal consultant for the Illinois State Board of Education in charge of developing and administering the science portion of the large-scale state assessment system for Illinois, where she oversaw the review, adoption, and subsequent implementation efforts for the state and served as state level expertise in the development of balanced assessment systems and a new state science assessment blueprint to accompany the new standards.
