Project Updates

Dan Andersen from the Health Division has been invited by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to participate on a panel of experts in measure development. The all-day meeting, A Conversation on Improving the Quality Measure Development Process: A LEAN Approach, will be held this Thursday in Baltimore, Maryland. The objectives of this meeting are to engage and provoke discussion on innovation in the current measure development space focusing on three main areas: testing, technical expert panels (TEPs), and environmental scans.

Publications & Presentations

IMPAQ International is proud that our health experts will participate in ten presentations during the 2016 AcademyHealth Annual Research Meeting (ARM) in Boston this Sunday through next Tuesday. IMPAQ presenters include Guido Cataife, Sarah Pedersen, Brittany Sumnicht, Riha Vaidya, Rekha Varghese, and Daniel Weinberg. In addition, IMPAQ is a Bronze Sponsor, a sponsor of the Health Economics Interest Group, the exclusive student scholarships award sponsor for the Quality and Value Interest Group, and an exhibitor at the event.

Lanlan Xu’s article “Child support and mixed-status families an analysis using the Fragile Families and Child Wellbeing Study” was published in Social Science Research.

Maurice Kugler co-authored the paper “Long-Term Direct and Spillover Effects of Job Training: Experimental Evidence from Colombia,” which is being presented at the World Bank’s Annual Bank Conference on Development Economics 2016: Data and Development Economics. The conference is taking place today and tomorrow in Washington, DC.

The American Public Health Association (APHA) accepted four presentations from IMPAQ’s Health and Human Services staff for the APHA 2016 Annual Meeting & Expo. Jennifer Pooler co-authored “MCH Training Program: Developing MCH Leaders that are Equipped for the Changing Health Care Landscape,” and she will present “Food Preparation Outcomes Associated with Participation in Cooking Matters for Adults.” In addition, Ann Middleton and Alberto Ortega Hinojosa co-authored “Incentivizing Health at Your Worksite- SCC Healthy Worksite Award Program” and Gavriella Frank, Ilene Harris, Jennifer Howard, and Zippora Kiptanui co-authored “Identifying and understanding who and what influences generic drug utilization in the U.S.”

Ilene Harris co-authored the paper, “Relationship Between Severity and Acute Inhaler Use in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease,” which recently won one of the Best New Investigator Poster Research Presentations awards at the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) 21st Annual International Meeting.

Andrea Beesley is a co-author for the article, “Impacts of professional development in classroom assessment on teacher and student outcomes,” which was recently published in The Journal of Educational Research.

IMPAQ’s International Development Division recently won an award from the Investment Climate Facility for Africa (ICF) to provide an impact assessment for the Mauritius Judiciary Project.
