Project Updates

Last month, Senior Research Associate Daniela Zapata and Research Associates Sarah Pedersen and Sara Borelli presented findings and lessons learned from our impact evaluation of the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB) funded project, Strengthening Protections of Internationally Recognized Labor Rights in Colombia. The evaluation examined the impact Labor Rights Centers have on workers’ knowledge of their rights and their willingness to file complaints against their employer citing labor law violations. In addition to the findings, IMPAQ offered recommendations regarding future impact evaluations of similar projects to the more than 20 people who attended from DOL’s Chief Evaluation Office (CEO), the Office of Child Labor, Forced Labor, and Human Trafficking (OCFT), and the Office of Trade and Labor Affairs (OTLA).

International Development Research Associate Jaime Meza-Cordero recently returned from a site visit in Malawi where he supervised the data collection, training, and roll-out of the baseline data collection for the randomized control trial (RCT) evaluation of our Child Labor Elimination Actions for Real Change II (CLEAR II) project. The training was done in collaboration with our local partners Invest in Knowledge and our donor, the U.S. Department of Labor.

Good News @ IMPAQ

The Heart Walk is the American Heart Association’s (AHA) premiere event for raising funds to save lives from this country's No. 1 and No. 5 killers - heart disease and stroke. This year, IMPAQ is participating in Heart Walks across the country to promote physical activity and heart-healthy living. On October 8, our Columbia office and Survey Center teams joined AHA for the Greater Maryland Heart Walk at Camden Yards. In addition, this Saturday our Seattle office team is joining the Heart Walk at Puget Sound.
