Designed to help New Yorkers make more informed health plan selections, the NYPlanCosts Calculator is an easy-to-use website that provides out-of-pocket cost estimates by health plan for people with 10 chronic conditions and life events that usually have high out-of-pocket costs. Support for the calculator was provided by the New York State Health Foundation. Read the full press release on our website and find the calculator at

Shannon Howard, Research Associate in the International Division, was in Dakar, Senegal for nearly two weeks, providing technical support to the USAID-supported Accès activity. The goal of Accès is to improve Senegalese health and nutritional statuses, especially of women and children, by increasing sustainable access to water and sanitation services, and adopting hygiene practices in targeted communities. Ms. Howard worked with partner staff and USAID to review the activity’s performance indicators and to conduct a workshop on using a mobile data collection system.
