The US Department of Labor recently cited IMPAQ’s report “Impact of the Reemployment and Eligibility Assessment (REA) Initiative in Nevada” in a press release about their recent award of $65M to to 52 state workforce agencies to operate Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessment programs to help individuals successfully get back to work. According to the release, “information about the positive impact and effectiveness of these types of services can be found in research conducted by IMPAQ.”
The Vermont Commission on Women has published IMPAQ’s final report for the Vermont Paid Family Medical Leave Feasibility Study. The study provides objective, unbiased information for developing an informed and effective paid family medical leave program. In December, Research Associate Dallas Elgin and Vice President, Labor and Human Services James Moore presented the study’s findings to the Commissioners of the Vermont Commission on Women. The study was also recently highlighted on Vermont Public Radio.
As a part of our work for the Worker Leave Analysis Study, the US Department of Labor published a 7-brief series that IMPAQ and the Institute for Women’s Policy Research created. The briefs explore leave-taking behaviors in the U.S. workforce and estimate the costs and benefits of potential national paid family leave and sick leave policies. Special topics included paid leave and the employment stability of first-time mothers, leave-taking and eligibility among working mothers, leave-taking among older workers, and the effects of Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) eligibility and awareness on family leave-taking.
Since 2013, Maurice Kugler’s paper “Trade and market selection: Evidence from manufacturing plants in Colombia,” has been recognized as one of the most highly cited papers since then in the Review of Economic Dynamics, a top impact factor economics field journal sponsored by the Society of Economic Dynamics.
The National Association of Workforce Boards (NAWB) has accepted James Moore, Jonathan Simonetta, Anne Chamberlain, and Soman Gupta’s workshop, “An Evaluation Toolkit for the Public Workforce System,” for the 2017 NAWB Forum this March.
Elnaz Safarha’s group panel, “Lisez-vous Français? Early Grade Reading in Francophone Africa: A multi-country comparison of assessment tools, data, and program design,” has been accepted at the Comparative and International Education Society 61st Annual Conference in Atlanta, Georgia this March.
