Whitney Stewart Presents at the American Psychological Association Conference

IMPAQ Technical Assistant Specialist Whitney Stewart will present “Cultural Considerations for Behavioral Health Professionals in the Aftermath of Disasters” during the American Psychological Association Annual Convention, taking place in Denver, CO from August 4-7, 2016. Ms. Stewart will present during the “Responding to Disasters — Culture and Communication” symposium on August 6 from 8:00 – 8:50 AM in Room 111, Level 2. During her presentation, Ms. Stewart will discuss cultural considerations in disaster behavioral health response and will provide suggestions for competent services. 

Ms. Stewart is a trained social worker with clinical skills in assessment and supportive counseling for those dealing with trauma and prolonged stress. Currently, Ms. Stewart provides technical assistance, program consultation, and content training to states, territories, federal project officers, and Crisis Counseling Assistance and Training Program (CCP) grantees on disaster behavioral health preparedness, planning, training and response. Furthermore, Ms. Stewart is a skilled researcher in program evaluation with the ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative in various databases including SPSS.
