Eric Waters
Eric S. Waters is a web development specialist at AIR. Waters has more than 16 years of experience as a database developer, with a particular focus on data tools and web applications serving internal and external education clients. In his present position, Waters creates and maintains both Drupal and FileMaker based websites, online database systems, and web applications that support the work of multiple comprehensive centers with state departments of education and their clients including the Texas and Southeast Comprehensive Centers and the Midwest and Great Lakes Comprehensive Centers. In addition, he has worked with the Texas Education Agency, and the National High School Center at AIR to develop a run-time database version of the Early Warning System Tool called the Early Warning Data System (EWDS) on which he has given several conference presentations and trained numerous education service center staff.
As an in-house developer, Waters has programmed and managed numerous relational data systems for both corporate and program staff including client management, online event registration and management, web content management and automation, publications and sales, resource library management, personnel planning and appraisal systems, applicant management, funding opportunity tracking, purchasing, travel, inventory, information technology help desk, and many more. His technical work includes a strong interest in working with program staff and clients to solve complex data management problems with quickly deployable solutions that are both user-friendly and responsive.
His previous work included serving as a systems trainer. In this role, he both developed and delivered individual and group instructional design for internal audiences. His duties also included the development of an online training curriculum, management of staff progress on technology, dissemination of weekly training materials and tips, and management of training facilities. He also has teaching experience, having served as a classroom teacher in Texas for Grades 4, 5, 6, and 7.
