Since the handbook's first publication, significant evidence has been collected on the relationship between teamwork and quality of care. Researchers have conducted new empirical tests and new methodologies have been proposed.

Newer meta-analytics have confirmed how team training positively impacts team performance. However, organizational factors must be considered to make team training successful in different contexts.
