The principal objective of this project was to gain a deeper understanding of the facilitators and barriers surrounding the labor market participation of older workers.
Through a literature review, IMPAQ examined recent research for an understanding of the variables that influence labor market decisions and behaviors of people age 55 and over. We also analyzed large, nationally representative data sources using rigorous statistical methods for a data-driven picture of the situation older workers find themselves in. We identified workforce behaviors, barriers in the workplace, and policies and programs to increase labor force participation.
Our team included a subject matter expert, a senior research economist, analysts, and a technical working group of leading experts in the field. This group has decades of experience in literature reviews and statistical analysis.
