Quality & Safety Review System: Health IT in Practice

IMPAQ designed and developed a Quality and Safety Review System (QSRS) for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), which funds the CMS Clinical Data Abstraction Center (CDAC). QSRS is a software system designed to examine patient safety concerns comprehensively in the hospital setting. The AHRQ system is an expandable, multi-functional, standards-based software platform used for the collection, analysis, and reporting of specified patient safety and quality of care data. Future releases will be available for deployment in hospital settings.

We used an Agile software development methodology that included two-week sprints and working prototype demonstrations. The prototypes were provided to the client monthly or as requested by AHRQ.

Our team included a project manager, systems analyst, and two to three junior analysts for quality assurance and testing. Their background and experience includes proactive project management, detailed systems analysis and requirements solicitation, and holistic quality assurance planning.
